I spent 24 hours in NYC for a Broadway actor

In April, I did something that, for me, was super spontaneous. I had heard that one of my current favorite actors/singers, Jeremy Jordan, was going to be returning to Broadway for only a few weeks. I knew I wanted to see him and so I booked a trip only a week in advance. Crazy!!!

This type of thing is unheard of for me. Booking a flight with no place to stay and no one to travel with was a little scary, but I knew I needed to get to NYC for the show. Instead of overthinking and procrastinating everything, I just saw what I wanted, knew I could do it and said yes!

And can I just tell you that it was the BEST day?! My mom was able to come up and join me. We ate delicious food and wandered the city on a chilly, foggy day. The buildings seemed to disappear in the mist. We people watched; saw random people juggling in Bryant Park. We visited the New York Public Library for the first time. Did you know they have a whole room just for genealogical studies? Rooms of maps, lists of names and historical documents. It was so cool! We sat and chatted about life. Of course, we saw the show, Waitress, which was wonderful. Jeremy is just as talented in person as I imagined! Plus, the Cast hosted a karaoke event afterward where audience members could get up and sing with them. It was so fun and some of the participants were incredible.

To top it all off, we waited at the stage door (for forever), and Jeremy signed my Playbill. MAGIC. I returned to our hotel almost in tears because 1) I was absolutely exhausted and 2) so happy I could burst.

New York is one of my favorite places to visit. The hustle and bustle, the insane amount of people, the shows, the history. Having a day with limited plans to just wander and look around was perfect.

It's funny because a few days before I had an awful day. I was feeling so, so down. After my spontaneous trip, I felt lighter than air. Grateful for so many things. And more content than I have in a while. This trip, planned only a week in advance, was exactly what I needed.

I'm praying this can be a start to a new chapter for me. Working, saving and doing. No need to overthink or over-plan or worry about complications that won't happen. No need to stress about things I can't control. Just finding something that makes me happy and sticking to it until it happens.

Life is SO short!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want mine to be full of fun and people I love and music and light. I want to act on my wanderlust. I want to look back with no regrets of waiting for the "perfect" timing.

Also, I would like Jeremy Jordan to sing to me every day. That goal might be a little harder to reach though...
